Upgrading your Laptop or PC to Microsoft Windows 7
This guide is for customers that have Windows 7.
Windows 7 is the latest operating system from Microsoft. You may have purchased the software on its own or bought a new laptop or PC with Windows 7 installed.
As you may know, part of your O2 Home Broadband package includes McAfee Internet Security.
To get it working with Windows 7, you'll need to follow a few simple steps:
1. Existing Home Broadband customers upgrading from Vista
If you are an existing customer with Vista you don't need to do anything as McAfee will automatically work.
2. New Home Broadband customers
Once you have received your text message or email telling you your O2 Home Broadband is active, just pop in the set up CD in your laptop or PC and follow the steps.
3. Existing Home Broadband customers upgrading from Windows XP.
Run your O2 Home Broadband set up CD. During the McAfee Internet Security installation you will come across an error. If you do, don't worry. Please follow the next simple steps to get McAfee Internet Security up and running:
- You'll need to know your O2 email address (your o2.co.uk email address), you got this when you signed up. If you are not using this email address or can't remember it, then please click here. After checking it's really you, we'll send it to your chosen email address within the next few hours.
- When you have got your O2 email address please click here to go on to the McAfee website. Click on "forgotten password" and enter your O2 email address when asked.
- Once you've received your McAfee password (which will be sent to your O2 email account at o2.co.uk/myo2/email/o2webmail), please click here and enter your O2 email address and McAfee password to login. You can then click on the "download" button.
- Accept the McAfee license terms, then click the "download button" and follow the simple instructions on the web page.
- McAfee will then download a file called "DMSetup.exe" to your laptop or PC. When prompted, choose "save file".
- Once it has downloaded, click on the "DMSetup.exe" file to install McAfee Internet Security. When asked, please enter your O2 email address and the McAfee password.
- After a couple of days McAfee may prompt you to re-register. You need to re-register to get the latest security updates making sure your laptop or PC is always protected. Please enter your O2 email address and your McAfee password.
You now have McAfee Internet Security for the life of your O2 Home Broadband contract protecting you and your family when you are online.
Using Email with Windows 7
Windows 7 does not come with a standard email client e.g. Outlook or Outlook Express.
You can still use your O2 email with O2 Webmail at o2.co.uk/myo2/email/o2webmail. This will let you access your O2 email from any computer connected to the internet.
