2. How do I switch to O2 from another broadband company?
If you already have broadband from another supplier, it's easy to move to O2. Just call your current supplier and ask for your Migration Authorisation Code. This is also called a MAC key, and is a long string of letters and numbers. Then, when you order O2 Business Broadband, we'll ask for your MAC key. Without it, we can't move you to our service. The changeover takes about two weeks. Although we do our best to keep you online, you'll probably lose your connection for an hour or two at some point.
3. What type of phone line must I have to do I need for O2 Business Broadband?
O2 Business Broadband requires an active analogue BT phone line. This phone line does not need to be a BT Business phone line. You can still benefit from O2 Business Broadband if you are using an alternative provider for calls over your BT phone line.
O2 Business Broadband is not compatible with digital lines providing services such as ISDN 2 and ISDN 30.
4. What does 20meg mean?
20meg is the maximum possible speed of your Internet connection. The meg bit is short for 'megabits per second', but the important thing is that it's fast. In fact, it's one of the fastest broadband connections you can get for your business.
5. What connection speed can I expect?
O2 Business Broadband is always fast. But broadband is an inexact science. The speed you actually get varies, and it depends on lots of things. Mainly, it comes down to how far you are from your local telephone exchange. The closer you are, the better the chance of getting a fast connection. If you're further away, we have to throttle back a little to make sure the broadband signal gets through OK. We always give you the highest speed we can - and as long as you can get O2 Business Broadband, it'll be fast enough.
6. What if I don't have an O2 mobile phone?
It doesn't matter if you have one of our mobile phones or not. As long as O2 Business Broadband is available in your area, you can sign up. But if you do have an O2 consumer or business pay mobile we've a couple of extras for you. You can send and receive email and even keep your calendar up-to-date, all from your handset.
7. Can I still have O2 Business Broadband if I have non business O2 tariff?
If you have a consumer pay monthly O2 tariff you can still have O2 Business Broadband and the good news is you get a £5 discount on your O2 Business Broadband monthly line rental.
8. How do I order O2 Business Broadband?
It's easy to order O2 Broadband online. First we'll check you can get our service. Then we'll ask you to fill in our order form. The whole process only takes a few minutes.
There are a few things you'll need to hand:
- The number of the BT line you want to use for broadband.
- Your address. We'll also need the delivery address if you want the Welcome Pack sent somewhere different.
- Your bank account details to set-up a Direct Debit Instruction
- Your mobile phone number, so we can text you when your service is up and running. It doesn't matter if you're not an O2 mobile customer.
- Your current email address, so we can send your registration details through.
- You can also order over the phone. Call 0800 230 0202 and someone nice will take you through the whole process.
9. Will O2 Business Broadband work with an Apple Mac?
Yes - and it's easy to get started, without using our set up CD. All you have to do is plug everything in and switch your O2 wireless box on. You'll be online straight away.
If you want to go wireless or change how your connection is set up, you can use the O2 Broadband advanced settings. And if you need help with connection problems or your email, you can give us a call.
10. Can I have O2 Business Broadband if I work from home?
Yes you can. As long as you have an active analogue BT line you can enjoy all the benefits of a business grade service for your office at home.
11. How long will it take to get O2 Business Broadband?
We'll try and get you online as quickly as possible. But as there's quite a lot for us to do, it can be up to two weeks before everything's up and running. We'll send you a text message when it's all ready to go but you'll still be connected with your old supplier until the switch happens, when you may lose connection for a couple of hours.
12. Do I have to sign a contract if I want O2 Business Broadband?
When you sign up to O2 Business Broadband, it's for a minimum of 12 months. We're not scared of commitment, and we think that's long enough for us to get to know each other properly. We know that sometimes things change, so if you want to cancel after the first year it won't cost you anything. All we ask is that you let us know in advance by giving us 30 days notice. We can't imagine why you'd want to, but if you decide to end it sooner you'll have to pay a disconnection charge.
